Hi All
this is my firs post on this forum my name is Mike and I live in Denmark. I have been in this hobby for 25 years an since day one I have been looking for a pair of Crassipinnis, now i think I found at pair, but it in The Netherlands and it a drive of 480 miles, so before i get them 'll like to hear your opinion. Is this A Crassipinnis or just a Tiger ??

Yes they are crassipinnis and they are beautiful .

The Crassipinnis is a smaller species.

Crassipinnis is smaller,fatter and has the two distinctive dark bars on its side. It also lacks dorsal spots that are present in many other wild forms of Oscar. Crassipinnis just has 1 caudal spot.

I also thought the spotting near the gills and under the lower jaw was an identifying trait. Could be wrong though.


Telling them from orbicularus for me is impossible. I wonder if they are infact the same fish.

leaving for The Netherlands this weekend to pick up my 2 Crassipinnis...I thought, it turns out that not fare from where I bought the 2 fish, another 6 was for sale, so now I return to Denmark with 8 fully grown Crassipinnis...
