I was just wondering your opinions of my Firemouth who got attacked by my carpintis. It is the first time I have ever had a fish injured to this extent and am unsure as to whether he will recover from something like this and is he in a lot of pain? If he has a chance what can I do to help his chances of survival?

Keep him separate from your more aggressive fish if that's possible and do lots of water changes for a good 3-4 weeks, he should be ok if you do that

He'll be fine ive seen much much worse , treatment tank with a bit of aquarium salt or melafix , he'll be back to normal in no time

Good advises all, do keep us posted as to the progress. The best of luck.

I don't have any melafix at the moment and when you say aquarium salt what do you mean? I used to have a marine set up so I have some of that salt left over, is this what I should use and how much? and can all fish deal with salt being added to the tank?

Just like everyone said he will be fine. I remember seeing a post here about a fm that lost most of it's tail and making a full recovery

Aquarium salt is labeled Aquarium Salt. It will usually say "For Freshwater Aquariums" on it somewhere. Marine salt is different.
