I am considering peacock bass for one of my tanks. I was wondering about what size do they start to color up and look really good? The ones available are just silver with black vertival bars but at about 3" there is not color yet.

How aggressive are they? I have worked with and had lots of other cichlids, just not peacock bass. How do they compare to other cichlids? Let's say compared to an oscar, jaguar cichlid, dovii, etc., what are they most similar to?

Under most conditions I don't think pbass are all too aggressive. But they do have big mouths and bigger appetites! They need big tanks due to their 24" or larger max. size potential.

^^^ this is the truth .. i think REALLY start to color up at around 10 - 12 inch depending on diet and water quality.

I have two myself they are about 4.5" possibly bigger and they are just starting to get color pigment coming in. I got them when they were about 1.5" or 2" long. I have only had them for a month and they growing so fast its ridiculous. I haven't had a problem with agression with any of there tank mates but they like to chase each other around.

And if you want to make sure that they aren't stunners, wait till 16" before you sell em off.

first signs of color about 5"-6" ...but show tons of color by 10"-12"!!!

Yeh I agree with the boys, they start to colour round 6" but expect a burst of colour around the 10". Well that's how it was with me anyway..
