At what size do Tems. start to fatten up?

I've got two venz. tems that just keep getting longer and longer but not fatter. They're about 6-7" right now. At what size do they start to grow horizontally (fatter) instead of longer? Could it be based on tank foot print?

Also, is this the same for the other "long bodied" cichla (pinima, azuls)?

my venz tem is 13'' and he didnt start fatting up till about 10'' but he still looks like a torpedo but with a gut

yeah same here my 10 inch tem get longer but not fatter. and i feed him alot too

mine get longer but they don't seem to be bulking up yet either, my biggest one is probably 5" or more right now

Cuz mine get fat after eating but that's normal. I'm talkin' bout actual girth. The seller of this fish had him at 11-12" i think so I guess I'll just wait and see.

That's the answer I was looking for! Thanks! My guys are "fat" but its not girth they keep just after eating.
