i read that the best temp for a green terror is 70-75 but it seems that mine is most active when its over 77. my temp is set to 79 as of now and he is soooooo active hes flying around the tank attacking my corys (theyll be fine) and swimming at the glass like hes trying to get through it. i like him best this way but idk if i should turn the temp down to 75 or 76.

Not sure where you read that, but Gold Saums are from South American and generally SA cichlids like it a bit warmer then CA cichlids. With that said I'd never set the heater for that low with a Saum. I keep my tanks between 78-80F.

well had my temps in the lower 70s, my africans werent as active, turned my apt heat up to 70, tank is at 76 to 78, my fish are ALOT more active, same with my chocolates/severums, they werent as active at lower 70s, now up to 78 they are ALOT more active

Well yeah, it's also a way to lower the aggression of a tank is to lower the temperature as fish are less active in cooler temps.

I wouldn't keep Africans in the lower 70s either.

My SA cichlids and my african cichlid temp are very diffent in my tank. One is 78F and the other is 84F but when i want the african cichlids to breed i lower the temp and it works.

the closer to 90, the more active and mean they get. The more closer to 80 the more calm they get.. I like my tanks at 85

Really depends on the fish. By rule though higher temps will usually lead to more active fish due to metabolic increase. The key is to avoid going too hot or too cool and finding a solid mid ground. Too warm will have crazy active fish but may shorten lifespan and be unhealthy and stressful to the fish and too cool slows metabolic rate and could lead to very sedentary inactive fish. I have found with most centrals 77-80 is a solid range. My beani, however get 73 degree water due to the region they are from and are just as active as my fish at 80.

Really the best thing for your fish is finding a good range and keeping it steady to reduce stress as fish in the wild never really have to seal with drastic temp changes like we do during water changes and whatnot.
