Realistically you want a tank thats at least as large in any direction as the animal. I'd say 8x3 is a better minumum footprint.
 
Personally I would say the 240 gallon tank would work for either species - Until they reach about 20" in length.

Past 20" in length you'll need a tank that at least 30" for either species. For Coral Catsharks -actually 36" is the preferred tank width (IMO).
