Just let him bite you initially and then you will never fear the bite again. I bet my 7" grass pickerel has a nastier bite than your tokay! Made one of my friends hand bleed on 3 fingers in one bite! I was so proud of him

I kid you not! He is a mean bastard. Did you ever try and handle him? I would bet that your RD has a worse bite.

I handle mine all the time, I do not wear gloves, if it bites just be patient it will let go eventually, unless it catches somewhere that the skin is thin you won't even bleed, if it does it is just a little scratch, a kitten can do worse.
