hi all just saw my 6" vatf today and it botoom mouth/jaw look bang up abit and one of the teeth came off and the other is bent outward. well anyway is this a bit concern and what can i do? pic coming soon

thank you in advance

teeth will grow back, 6'' tigers could be very skittish, especially goliath. how big is your tank? also could be in shedding stage, teeth naturally fall out and regrow bigger and better. chin rub quite normal for these boys, wouldnt be to concerned if i were u. try to determine why he is bangin glass, tankmates, bright lighting, small tank, etc and eliminate those factors.

tank is 180g standard size tank mate is just two tinfoil barb and a bala shark. lighting is not to bright i keep it pretty dark till the night light come on and during the day he look calm not skittish at all. ill try to get some close up pic of the fish later today.

thank again

My guess is the tinfoil is scaring him. 6" and with a 6X2X2 home, no ATF should be crashing unless scared. ATF are fairly quick healers so that should be the least of your worries (IMO)... It's the repetition I worry about. I believe the Light is no issue as I have kept different size ATF in my tanks with bright lights. My Avatar is my 300 w/a 4' 4-T5HO light. Also had more T5's around that fixture to fill the 8' tank so I assume the light is no problem (but every individual fish is different).

I would ditch the tinfoils n possibly the Bala.

A banged up jaw doesn't necessarily mean he's hitting against the glass from being skittish. My GATF isn't skittish, but he swims up against the glass quite lot. Just zig-zagging up and down the tank. That has led to his jaw being "rubbed-raw".

My Armatus did that as a juvenile too, and it did look quite worrying. (Their darker tone made it quite obvious). But he did get to the stage where he stopped doing that, and shortly after, everything healed up quite nicely. So this time, I'm not too worried about the GATF. Don't think you have much to worry about either.

i sat and watch him for awhile found out he was going after the bala so i toke him out and now he is calm. also the teeth that was bent outward fall off.
thank guy
