You have a beautiful aquarium and fish!
Chicxulub, I've been an admirer of African Tiger Fish for years and would like to locate some later this year. I've recently read the introduction to ATF that I believe you wrote and is a sticky on this forum. After ready the sticky, I'm a little confused at some of your comments on this thread. You mention that OP's fish should be much larger by now and that his aquarium (with a footprint of 8 x 2.5) is definitely nothing more than a grow out tank and then you identify them as Forskalii. Based on information in the sticky, it would seem as if this aquarium is more than adequate for the fish and that they are appropriately sized for FATF. Have I misread something? Honestly the species abbreviations have been confusing me a bit. Seems much easier to to just use the actual name of the fish.
Thanks
Rex
There has been an interesting development in my system.
Bearing in mind that these fish have been kept together for the last two years in a much smaller system with no decor or substrate etc, with only two sponge filters.
Since moving them to this larger planted system, the fish are showing a lot of aggression towards each other, with the largest being the most aggressive.
I have moved the larger one until I can understand why after all this time, it is only until now he has become aggressive.
the rest are much more similar sized, however there is a small amount of aggression.
Can you help me understand what has happened despite two years of peace and stability.
I can only speculate that the move to a larger system which has more hiding places has triggered some sort of territorial response?
