So basically its a brackish fish? maybe that why no one has been able to keep them alive very long. Might have to pick one or 2 up for my african scat tank

there is a stable population that lives in freshwater.......

they are in the st john's river in fl.

yeah but the freshwater ones put out a LOT more urea in order to osmoregulate. More urea = faster water quality deterioration. It would probably be easier to keep these guys in brackish or even salt water.
