I got the affirmation I was looking for: that you are not completely closed to the idea that life may have arose from chemical reactions.

Thank you, I'm done. :)

G'nite my friend, it has been a pleasure :)

Ok, you responded while i was writing. I disagree with the idea in general I don't close doors I have disagreed from the beginning. Your last statement leads me to believe that you feel like you have painted me in a corner. So, I guess I will have to break it down. The odds of it chemicals forming life on their own is sooooo astronomical that I believe it to be silly. Again I am not omnipotent. The odds of creationism and intelligent design are greater. Frankly to believe that chemicals got together of their own volition and created life is sort of funny. I posted an article to argue this but you refused to acknowledge it. You didn't like the authors approach or something I can't look up now because I am typing. I made a couple of references in the last few posts that alluded to the fact that you were trying to lead me. It's there for all to see. I am now disappointed in your reaction. It's a childish ploy. I had more respect for you than that. This is supposed to be a debate not an "ah ha" i got you. I have lost some respect for you. If you have to resort to that to further your argument then you need to reassess your argument. I will further state one last time that I AM NOT PERMITTED TO TALK ABOUT MY BELIEFS BECAUSE ITS AGAINST THE RULES, so I have to beat around the bush. My beliefs being against the rules should actually worry you. Aren't we supposed to be tolerant of one another. Also someone mentioned earlier that Aristotle couldn't get by one of my counter arguments which you think you just did. Can't we agree to disagree for the second time? Or are you so arrogant that you think you have defeated my arguments?

Further more if life did arise from chemical reactions, "something" caused the reactions, they didn't do it themselves. Again... read the article I posted that you didn't like.

tomorrow.......but seriously can we stop beating this dead horse.... You aren't convincing me.... I am not convincing you.... let's move on.

Well you misunderstood my questions and my intentions in the last few posts then, if that's how you feel.

See, I was trying to clarify for myself, that you are not closed to the idea, that's all. You had already established that you disagreed, but I wanted to know if you are at least willing to remain open to the possibility, and you are, there is no 'gotcha' moment, that's not what this is about man, I thought you knew that.

I felt it was a great place we could pick up from later.

Now, I gave you a direct reaction to the link you posted, reference post #45 in this thread where I replied to your link with the following:

This is one of the many forefront areas of scientific research, because the truth is we just don't know yet.

Check out this wikipedia entry for Abiogenesis which provides several possible explanations regarding the origin of life from chemical reactions, and the problems with those ideas which science is currently trying to understand and solve:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Origin_of_life

As you can see, I was not offended at all, but rather excited about the challenge facing researchers who have now reached what appears to be the very begining of life.

It might be worth pointing out that I have not once claimed in this entire thread, that your fundamental belief is incorrect, or that I am closed to the idea.

Now, as much as I would like to continue, 1:00am is where I am forced to draw the line, I need at least 4 hrs sleep to function lol

Talk to you later man, g'nite.

Ok. It's all cool. We'll pick up where we left off if you want. However understand that I am getting what you could call a lot of "hate mail" through pms about what an a## I am and how intellectually inferior I am etc etc, and it has affected me a little. I might have jumped the gun on you and for that I am sorry. For those of you who sent it congratulations for disturbing my piece of mind. Savor the moment, it won't happen again. I will ignore those in the future. I am a nice person who is entitled to my beliefs and opinions. Respect that. I haven't sent any messages to anyone just to try and hurt their feelings or sensibilities. Again, cohazard, and you can shorten me to ullo if you want. It's a long name. I am sorry if I jumped the gun on you. But you'd have to be on my end to understand what I have endured off thread just because I talk about this with you.

This isn't posting. I keep trying so mods if there turns out to be 5 of these, delete 4 please and sorry if that happened.

I am sorry to hear that you have received those types of messages. I firmly believe in having respect for another person, even if you disagree with them. Debating facts and evidence is one thing, but resorting to insults, aggression, etc... gets nothing accomplished.

Believe it or not, I can relate to your frustration of not being able to discuss everything you believe in, I too cannot discuss things I believe people should learn to discuss, but in the end, it makes sense.

We are all here on this forum for a common purpose: we share one of the best hobbies out there. This isn't the best place for these types of discussions or debates, but naturally since our hobby enriches our lives, a lot of us prefer to spend most of our time here, and wish to incorporate other parts of ourselves.

So here is something we can agree on: although we lean in different directions, we are both open to all possible answers.

If you lived close by I'd buy you a beer.
