Just received this guy today. Showed up in great shape. 12" +/- he's in a 75gal for now. He will be a permanent resident of the 500+ I'm finishing up.

Seems to be good. My tank randomly spiked nitrites last night so I've been keeping that in check. Didn't have another option, but I work from home and will be monitoring pretty constant and doing several tests a day until I feel this second cycle isn't a threat. Currently it's under .25ppm so just a trace. I put in Prime to minimize that as well

Ammonia is non existent. But tap water tests at 3ppm! So I'll have a handful of buckets treated at all times for now. I'll also grab a few 5 gal bottles at the store later and buffer to Ph.

Beautiful gar, and I feel pretty confinement I'll keep this in check. This happens every time I've ordered an expensive fish. It's like the aquarium gods love testing me.

Better pics when it gets acclimated.

Update: gar is doing just fine still. Nitrite spike is all but gone. Nitrate is high but doing 20% waterchanges every day with Prime and putting pothos in tomorrow.
