Attacked BGK!? Broken Tail??? Please help!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
and kinda depending on the archer it is probably brackish too, and i think monos are aswell. you could do a really nice brackish tank with that lot, though yea the angel and pleco and BGK are freshwater. sorry if it did died, sounds like you did what you could.

Sorry for your loss but take it on the chin. That tank is gona have more casualties if you dont tune it to your fish, trade the angels on and make it true brakish. Whatch those archers they get big!

As for the fresh water, its the best thing for a damaged fish. With your tank being uncycled it makes it hard but if its big enough and you do daily water changes + small amounts of food....a filter isnt allways needed.

you could get a brackish eel too, that would be cool. did you use any of the filter media from the older established tank in the filter for the quarentine tank if it was new?

he was dead before he even got in the quarentine, died aclamating... must have been too late. i moved my angels in there instead and yes added established filter media

since bgk are mostly bling, I may be wrong but the electrical signal that they send out is from the tail, and they need that to find the food..
I"d make real sure that he's dead before you take him out. and keep the melafix going...maybe even some pimafix

no he was definately dead... mouth wide open, took him out of the water and pushed it close with my finger and it just kept flopping open, no gill movement, RIP..

mine had just about the same amount of tail bitten off by my gar... I was sure he would die but the tough bugger made it and grew up... he has no "tail" and it looks kinda funny and swims a little different, but healed fine.

Sorry about yours.

So sorry about your BGK. I have a young one, 5 inches long, and have already gotten very attached to him. It's amazing your guy died so quickly--the anal fin must have critical connections, or he had internal injuries. But you did all you could. . . getting him into the hospital tank so fast was champion. Take care. . . .
