First of all, anyone here feed their asian and jardinii massivore pellets? or sinking carnivore?

i have started training my 6 inch RTG to eat pellets.

i tried with my 1.5, 3 weeks and it started to eat them but spitting some out eating only half of the pellet.

the aros cute face has twisted my arm the first time and made me give them shrimp:D lol

but i am determined. cos shrimp is a f....g dirty food, all the bits and pieces fall off lol also, pellets is easier! when i go on holiday.

any advise, tips?

i am trying them on sinking carnivores first, then i will try massivore when it arrives.

the RTG has not been fed for 1 day, its going for pretty much every sinking carnivore pellets i drop in there but spits it out

incase you are wondering why not aro floating pellets, i have an over flow, and the pellets just go over the side too fast lol

try stuffing them inside shrimp first.

Your almost there! Getting the arowana to at least taste it is half the battle. Just keep at it, and he will eventually swallow it. Starve him if you have to.

at 1.5 inches!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? hell no!!!!!!

unless its a foot and a half and i mis read it. if it is that small, dont starve it.

when he said 1.5, he meant Banjar Red. Hes training his RTG, which is 6 INCHES to eat pellets. And yes, ive starved asian arowanas at that size for a few days at a time with no problems.

An arowana at 1.5 inches would still have an egg sac and wouldnt need to eat pellets anyways lol

yes, i mean 1.5 grade aro lol
1.5 inch is a fry

yeha, i already stuff shrimp

but its annoying stuffing shrimp wiht pellets. though i dont do it, prefer just a pure pellet diet:D

easy

see how i go

Mine used to do the same. It was fed goldfish at the LFS and I fed her pellets and she refused. She would grab them and spit them back out. But don't worry... eventually hunger wins and they eat the pellets. They probably regard pellets the way we regard something like skim milk or diet Coke... but it's for their own good (when's the last time you heard of an arowana getting heart disease?).

If he is taking them but spitting them out, like already stated, your almost there...keep at it and he will be eating the pellets in no time

Im trying to do the same thing with my black aro.. its been 2 days aand he didnt eat anything yet. When he gets hungery im sure he will eat it lol..GL to you though

ok, i have starved it for a couple of days.
sometimes going for pellets but spits out.
mos tof the time ignores it.

i took small pieces of shrimp, crushed it up and used it as glue to stick together 7 to 8 pieces of sinking carnivores into a clump ith shrimp in the middle of them.
dropped it in, did it twice, ate it and swallowd it completely. the 3rd time, cheewed it and took longer to eat it, spat out a couple of pellets but ate the rest up with the shrimp.

should i keep doing this and keep lessening the shrimp amount until eventually it is only pellets?
