How cn I make my Baby RTC more active during de day?
I jus bought dem last week n dey dun seem to b active n dun have any appetite to eat. I'm so worried. The fins ar badly torn due to fights amongst the tankmates( parrot fish), will it b back to normal as it grows?

I cant understand half of what you wrote, but what size tank do you have all of these fish in? and how many rtc did you buy? Right now I would say take those parrot fish out and put them in another tank. and your rtc will eat when they get used to the surroundings. what are you trying to feed them? Also, you cant "make" a rtc active. It all depends on the one you have, some are lazy and sit there some are all over the tank. When little they do like to hide more. The fins will get better in time, Unless they got to them really bad, keep the water clean and everything

Yea, during the day mine just sits on the ground and gets fat, he doesn't move much.

RTC's don't as a general rule move around all that much. They also do most of thier moving around at night after the lights are off. As babies....RTC's need a place to hide to both feel comfortable..and to get away from tank mates. This is all normal and natural.

You can't expect an infant to play Quarterback for the Rams....

RTC's grow fast...but they still need to grow. If things don't seem to be happening fast enough for you then perhaps you don't have the right temperment for the hobby.

I disagree, an infant with basic motor skills could be an improvement for any position for the St. Louis Rams. hahaha

LOL Ok you slobs...I picked the wrong team as an example....At least I didn't use my PX cardnals...

feed exclusively during the day. He will start to see that food only comes during the day. And everytime you enter the room will swim around anticipating food. Works on all my catfish. I cut out all the lights except one that is far away and feed my fish. It's very cool to watch. Petting rtc, and my hybrids is really cool too.

The best way to get a young rtc to be more social is to raise him in a tank by himself. I recently bought a little 2" dude and keep him alone in a 75 gallon tank. Almost instantly he was swimming around ALL THE TIME and within 2 weeks was eating from my hand. That all stopped when I put a couple small gold sevrums in with him. He started hiding and became a little territorial and wouldnt come up for food anymore. A few days after I removed the sevrums he was back to normal. When a little rtc feels comfortable his true personality will show, keep him nervous and competing for territory and food and he wont act the same.
