Now I thought I'll never say this but my 7" synodontis eupertus is getting its butt kicked by the Pimelodus blochii's!! It was always very aggressive and would bully all the other fish except my marbled goby. Guess it met its match. I've very surprised to see this happen.

Don't think I'm familiar with that pimelodus, but surprising to hear anyway; any pics of said pim?

I'm not surprised. They can fend for themselves. I've had a 10" one and 14" one in a 4000 gal pond with all kind of predators and hunters - 2.5' TSN, 2.5' TSNxRTC, 3' silver aro, etc. They did fine. They are very quick, smart, and their poke hurts a lot.

The common name is 4-line Pim, sometimes called striped pictus Pim, etc. They are as common in the trade as it gets.

Thanks kno4te.

Thebiggerth...You had a 14"?? Wow that is amazing. I've heard of 10" ers but never seen them let alone a 14" one. Would love to see one that size.

Lol maybe I was just not paying attention, I'll keep an eye out next time; I'm in Scotland though, so don't know if its something we'd get commonly

Came home from work too find that both blochii's have torn bloody fins! I suspect it's the work of the synodontis eupertus cause now it's in the cave and the 2 blochii's are on opposite sides of the tank. They're not swimming around like the first couple of days.

It lived in a pond and perished along the way from NY to FL with 80% of my collection. That was 2011. I still am beating myself up for it and for not having taken pictures.

That is a big one. Planetcatfish lists them maxing out at 9.8 but mine is 11 or 12" so that must be average adult size. I really like them
