Ok goldfish, you say that these dyed fish are put into dye baths which is true kinda. Do you know what type of acid do they put the fish into? From what I understand for the most part they are put into acidic water, you know like what happens when your PH drops below 7. I have once read an article by Jack Wattley the discus god that to cure a specific disease that this guy needed to lower his PH to about 4.0 now do you think that he is inhumane, and cruel? I am not trying to point out one person and pick on them but sometimes people hear something and the just puke it out in another thread, then someone picks it up form that thread and so on and so on until everybody thinks that these fish are put into HCL (hydrochloric acid) and then dyed with food coloring!!!

Many people believe that fish do not feel pain and so injecting them with dyes is perfectly acceptable. In fact, increasing scientific evidence suggests that fish are indeed capable of feeling pain, though we have no way of telling whether they perceive painful events in the same way as we do.

So dye injection is likely to be a painful experience for the poor glassfish. In fairness, many traders and hobbyists were mislead, just as we first were, into thinking that these fish were simply painted with the dye. Now that the truth is out, it's time to stop this cruel practice, once and for all.

Again...everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But we are part of the evolutionary chain, and we being a higher being, are dictating what happens to the less fortunate. Its all about survival of the fittest. Think about how we selectively bred wild animals, like canines, and made them "man's best friend", did you ever realize, that PUGS are just inbred dogs with down syndrome, pretty f'ed up if you ask me :) but people seem to accept it and think its cute, and when "man's best friend" gets too hyper, we cut thier dick off, so they can be more easily trained, etc...etc...how'd we like that if that was done to one of us?

Its a f'ed up world we live in, as much as I HATE altered fish and animals, we have more important things to worry about. Our country going to war killing one another, thats a bigger problem, we're talking about people dying. and what about those wacko PETA people who set buildings on fire, and beat people up because they believe in ethical treatments for animals, are animals more valuable than humans?

Its a f'ed up world we live in. Have you ever realized, we'd probably rather feed our dog better, or hug or kiss a dog than do the same to lets say a less fortunate kid on the street?

Tatooing fish....well....yeah, I JUST love those people who put piercings on their new borns or toddlers, they didn't have a choice, and I'm sure they squirmed or cried while being pierced, cuz the mom thought its pretty? F'in A, lets call the animal police!

Maybe we should all be vegetarians, did you know they typically live longer? And no more pet keeping at all, free all dogs, no more fish, no pets, lets all be quiet and look somber. Better yet, lets crucify those people who tatoo fish!!! Save the fish.

I don't think many of the animals we eat are taken care of properly until death for our table fare. Drive up the Interstate 5 north and you'll pass by Harris Ranch, millions of cows, crowded next to each other, eating what could be their last meal, sounds like Auschwitz to me. I hear that the cows even tear before being led to the slaughter house. Its a pretty picture thinking great cheese come from happy cows, and happy cows come from california, but its not :WHOA:

Good protein is actually found in all plant matter without having to kill at all. If you believe in God, he originally intended for us to be vegetarians. It was until after the great deluge, that plant matters were scarce, and He allowed the Isrealites to indulge in eating meat. But if you look at biblical records, soon after, the life span and expectancy for humans dropped from 900s to 100s to maybe 50s, and now in modern world, we prolong death to aprox. 70-80 in various developed countries.

If you believe in Darwin, in his earlier writings, which he remorsed over in his latter days. Back to evoluation....we've evolved thus far, and our insane minds have led us to tatooing fish, whats next, breeding glow in the dark danios, wait, thats been done already, hmmm...inbreeding cassariuss cassariuss in thousand times to some will have their heads grown into a permanent tumor or some with giant pop eyes? Nah...lets breed dogs, tiny ones to tiny ones to make them little yo quero taco bello, eh?

The minute we pass judgment, that is when we'll be judged, the same measure we use on others, the same will be used on us. Good night amigos!

PETA - where are all the animal shelters you support?

What animals have they truly saved? Most are simply "set free" in ecosystems not designed to handle them, or in the case of semi-domesticated animals, they can't survive in thier normal habitats.

Treating animals ethically, and that includes not dying fish for all the dye lovers, does not come at the barrel of a gun, or blowing up a research lab.

Dyed fish suck because it's cruel, but I don't agree they feel pain on a level we do. They know something is wrong, but they respond with a flight instinct, and when they can't escape dye vats, fillet knives, etc, they flail around. I'm going to go eat a tasty fish tonight. All the best.....
 
Does it matter if they feel pain or not? These practices result in a shorter life span and a weaker immune system, so the fact of pain shouldn't even be a question.
 
I'm just gonna say....nope I don't like tattooed fish.......at all

Wow...we are so far from fish here...anyways, just wanted to add that our farm animals are really well treated here. Don't know about where you live, or what story you've heard. There is f%ck#d up people everywhere my friend...and we aint going to stop that on this thread.

And hell ya, maybe we should all be vegetarians! Ok who wants to be first?
