I just took my return lines out of my bulkhead to have it just shooting straight down like that in my 450g. Is that the only return you have?

Yes, I use to actually have two. The one you see in the center and one to the far right side of the tank. I recently set up a 180 that I piggy backed of the sump from my 600 so I used the other return for the 180 =-)

So now, yes this is my only return.

My center return is a mag36 at about 6' of head. It's hard plumbed with 2x45* and a 90*. Does yours run enough to blow waste around and into overflows? My tank is only 24" talk and it can't!
