for some odd reason they have gone UP considerably in the last 2 yrs. around here 6inchers are about from 50-70 dollars when they used to go for about 20-35 at the same size

Wow!!!! They come from specialty wholesalers at less than $10 for a 5" specimen. They are nice fish, but way too common to price at $50 or higher.

They are great fish, continually sifting sand and hoovering up food. Their only downside is the great size they are capable of.

Thats expensive, $100. Here in the UK their cheap as chips, I sold a 17" one for £30 the other day but alot are free when they get too big.

The pic above is a very unusual one, most are very dark in colour and more so when big. But it all depends on where in africa they were caught as soo many sub species. Great cats which get very tame and can be kept with small fish.

almost looks like pics ive seen of giraffes that come out of Lake Tanganyika

He called it a "Lake Giraffe Cat"...

its still hard to say unless the owner knows which lake it was caught from. But it is an absolutely gorgeous catfish none the less, definately one of my favorites of all time.
