Auchenoglanis tanganicus

From the 2 photos fish I can't say what species/variant they might be, only some kinds that are not. Not enough to be found so far to correctly I.D. A. tanganicanus without resorting to the morphometrics, field sampling results and other data found in genus revisions that usually lack photos of live specimens, helpful to us catfish anorak's. In some large African rivers such as the Congo for example, several species/variants of giraffe catfish exist there and possible natural hybridization could occur but I find that to be doubtful. I've never seen anything about captive breeding taking place with giraffe catfish anywhere? I don't see any possible relationship between A. (occidentalis) Tanganicanus variety and A. occidentalis-Volta variety if only because Lake Tanganyika in Burundi and Tanzania is in East Africa and the Volta River is in Ghana in West Africa... I feel the that Fishman Daves accounts to be the most reliable having seen the genuine article firsthand. If I had a spare tank and found a genuine Tanganicanus for sale I would snatch one up in a heartbeat but in my case neither are likely for now...
