hey everyone... so for my birthday i'll be in cali, probably around the Huntington or newport area and was wondering how the fishing out there during that time salt or freshwater.

plan 1:
get a guide and go deep sea fishing for the day (high chance of actually catching a fish)

plan 2:
got to a lake (which ones??) rent a boat and go bass or trout fishing for the day... but the problem about this one is that, i'll have a lower chance of actually catching something.

Go deep sea. You won't regret it. You can go freshwater anytime, but how often do you get chance to get out on the ocean?

Ocean fishing is the bomb, you never know exactly what your going to catch, also a lot more species opportunities and yummy fillets

thanks. ive never been deep sea fishing, but i always love to bass fish...

As i said there is nothing better than going out into the middle of the ocean with no one to bother you but friends for at least a mile each direction. It is really nice out there and also very good fo introspective thoughts on the ride out.

^ agreed. btw if i fish with a guide, do i get to keep the fish i catch?
