I think that 40cm is properly the max size for a auranti.

Over her in Japan, it is many times confused with the channa barca, which grows to around 90cm.

The price is the give away

i have 9 Aurantimaculata in one tank the to biggest of them are about 45 cm and there head is fat like a fist of a female human

I think they wont grow much bigger than that i think you confused them with barca somebody said they grow about 90 cm but i don t belive that....

Largest aurantics ever seen/or heard were in 17-18" range. I beleive max size is probably not much more than... Perhaps possibly 1 to 1.5" more maybe, (19"TL), but that's tops?!!

Imagine a speciman(s) 20"+/or larger... An impressive sight that would be to see?!!

the tank is 180 cm x 70 x 60 cm the first pic is an older one they have grown a lot since then...
Yes i think the big one is a female but the otherone which i think has to be male is not much smaller....
