If there is ever doubt of the legality of a species in the U.S. of A. and you are concerned of a possible sting operation just ask the person selling the livestock if it is legal to have said livestock in the USA. By law
they will have to tell you No if it is a sting. Now this is only if the police or or other law enforcement group is running things. As far as private vendors they can say whatever they want to make the sell.

Just throwing it out there but quite recently an importer in Chicago that I have done business with sent out a message stating he had access to bring in some Aussie Lungs within the past few months. He sent out the message to check out peoples interest and for people to put deposits down on orders. He has been able to bring in quite a bit of unusual and unique things so I don't doubt that he was able to bring some in for people. Not sure on sizes, ages, or micro-chipped status though since they aren't really my cup of tea lol.

Why don't you guys in the US arrange a group buy? I have done three imports to Canada this way over the years, had no problems at all. You just need someone in the group who can be trusted to collect the cash, place the order, clear customs and trans-ship the fish if needed. AUL's are quite hardy and not too hard to trans-ship.
