I was wondering if you could keep an aussie lung in either a tank that is 150 gallons, and about 72 1/2 x 18 1/2 x 28 1/2, or a tank that is 180 gallons, and about 72 1/2 x 24 1/2 x 25 5/8.

Thanks everybody.

I'm not speaking from experience, but AUL's are not that flexible.
So the depth of the tank should exceed the length of the fish.
and correct me if I'm wrong but I think it's best that the length of the tank should be atleast 3x the length of the fish. (in case of an AUL).
So you should be o.k. untill it gets to big.
If I recall correct the AUL wil grow real fast untill it reaches 2 ft and then it will slowdown. So a tank deeper than 2 ft and aprox 5 or 6ft in length will hold one for a while.
After that you have to go big big big big.
I'm still waiting untill I can get my hands on one.

When planning to keep a fish like this, remember that the larger they grow, the less flexible they become. Here's something to ponder when planning for housing an AUL...

They are lega if you buy them from a CITES approved breeder. There are a couple of breeders in Australia, but only one has been successful in getting offspring and that is Gordon Hides from Ceratodus www.ceratodus.com

I believe that Gordon will have offspring available for sale in January/February next year. I will definitly be getting one.

As already said, they do get big. Here is me with one of the smaller lung fish I happened to come across last weekend. You can understand why they are protected, they are the most amazing fish.

Thanks again everybody. It's going to take me a bit to get a bigger tank, but once I do, I think I might try this out.
