Aussie Lung question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hey guys, I've got another question, and I saw no point in starting another thread, so my question is....

Could an aussie lung be kept with some sort of aro, and maybe some larger bichir species, provided the tank is large enough?

Thanks again.

Should be fine with larger bichir species-Anne

Thanks. Anyone know about the aro?

most bichirs and arows should be fine with the AUL, but keep in mind the individual personalities of these fishes as well. i definitely wouldn't mix Australian arows with an AUL as they are just too mean, however, SAmerican arows will work just fine (ironic isn't it?).

as for bichirs, it is hit or miss. sometimes bichirs will nip at the AUL's fins or shred at the tail, so this is something to be on the lookout for when combining these two types of fishes.

in general, AUL's are pretty peaceful towards other fishes they can't eat, but don't be surprised if they nip at tankmates from time to time as well...mine does this to the big gars when he's defending the item of food he has his sights (or more accurately, "nostrils") set on--

I would love to keep one of those, but it would totally :nutkick: my checkbook

Thanks everybody! So, for my final question, now that I know the fish, could I keep all of them in a tank, around..... say 300 gallons and around say 96x30x36, or could I go any smaller or should I go any bigger?

Oh, and the fish would be one Aussie Lung, one Black Arowana, and around two large bichirs, either Ornates, Laps, or Endlis.
