Australian Arowana(Jardini)

Spoke with jardini owners and read threads like this before. Common consensus is that Jardinis (regular ones anyways, each has its own temperament ) get aggresive as they get bigger, usually when they hit the 10-12 inch mark . Ive had luck with nice sized parrot fish, had a pair with a 12 inch jardini and even managed to lay eggs. They were getting bit though , the parrots were just tough..

i recently bought a 6 inch jardini. ive had em for at least a wk now and he wont eat. ive tried rosy reds, pellets, flakes. i dont know what hell eat. any suggestions? ( he dosent get picked on at all either)

let him starve another week or two. He can go a month without food if he had to. He'll eat when he's hungry.

A bigger Datnoid can handle the Jardinis. If you have a few or more Datnoids, it would even be better.

Some jardini arent too bad though. Ive seen plenty of jardini that will tolerate tankmates.
Yep, I have my 10" jardini with two 4" Siniperca chausi and four 6" longnose gars... he's really pretty peaceful, I don't think I've even seen him eat the feeders that I put in sometimes as a treat.

Indeed. Just because a couple of us keep fish jardinis that aren't too bad, that dosn't mean that all of them are like that... I generally would avoid keeping jardinis with other fish.
