The diversity of fish you have access to is simply amazing. I'd love to be closer to the coast where I could catch something that I wasn't able to identify...

mariensis are totally protected and must be released if caught. Once critically endangered and extinct/extirpated from all but one river system the population is now on the way to recovery in the Mary catchment and the other systems into which they have been restocked.

This thread needs reviving, has anyone being out fishing lately? I went yesterday at Coonarr creek near Bundaberg and got a heap of whiting on my abu garcia black max with live nippers. Forgot to take a camera though, I will next time.
 
That cod is out of this world. Looks exactly like a grouper! Would love to have a tank with such a beast.
