ive always wanted to live in australia and one day i hope i will, but i have a few random questions.

do you get used to winter in august and christmas on a beach?

can you keep tropical fish in your garden in a pond?

do you get used to al lthe poisonous animals (theres alot)

how often if ever are you likely to see a poisonous animal

will you die? or does australia have antivenom in ambulances

anything else i should know?

i just been looking on the website about emmigration and it leaves alot of questions unanswered so thought i would try here =D

thanks Eläköön

LOL, first of all, don't worry about the poisonous animal. rule is - you see a snake, you leave it, don't touch it. Ponds - yes you can, but you better bloody make sure it can't get in water ways. and the winter, I can't read your location so I'm going to assume you're from Europe and say our winter is probably like your summer. and I have no idea what you mean by christmas on the beach, do you mean is it weird swimming in water in december?

well i heard australians celebrate christmas on the beach having a barbeque cause it is summer?
im' from england so its opposite weather really, but thought i would put my birthplace for location so people dont specificaly know where i live lol.

you see watching the animal planet or anything like that makes you paranoid of all the poisonous animals, so your saying they dont pose much of a problem in australia?

We don't always celebrate chrissy on the beach. well they're not that common really. depends, where do you want to live? Brisbane is a defiant :) lol, personally, I'd rather live on the east coast of aus, around Brisbane, possibly north NSW. If you're around the coast don't worry about poisonous snakes, if you're at nsw watch out for funnel web spiders, I hear they can be a problem, crawling into peoples shoes and such. snakes are only a real threat if you live out of the suburbs. don't get me wrong, you can still find snakes in the burbs, and in the city, but I wouldn't worry about it. the thing is you shouldn't be paranoyed that a snake might be in the grass or that bush, just do what you do, if you see it stop and back away slowly.

wow thanks for the advice liam you have been really helpfull!
its not that im paranoid of the poisonous animals its just there isnt any here, so when we hear of australia thats the first negative thing.

im not really too sure where i will live, its just at the moment im studying at university so i need to get a career before i can apply, but your infortmation has helped greatly.

is it more acceptable to keep australian natives in ponds other than tropicals then?

yeah, aussy natives are alright. just, you gotta keep in mind, you can't let the fish be able to escape out and get into the water.

Where were you born? I've always wondered what language you're location is it. Looks like Russian to me, but I've never been good differentiating the Eastern European languages.

1. You will get used to it. For you guys who are used to cold weather it's like a holiday all year round.

2. Not really south of the tropic of capricorn, but even if you were north, any aussie fish keeper that knew you were keeping tropicals in an outdoor pond, it'd be off with your head. Don't ever put a non native, tropical fish in an outdoor pond.

3/4. Ha ha lol. That question is one of the first I hear from friends in other countries. Anywhere where it is densly populated, there is next to no dangerous animals. The most dangerous animal you are likely to come accross are the red-back spiders, but as long as you leave them alone, they will leave you alone. I've only ever seen a snake 3 times. Twice was on a big 40 acre property full of bush, and I saw a brown snake and another I didn't get a gud look. The other was in my home, but was only a harmless whipsnake.

5. No antivenom, but unless you are bitten by a taipan, which is very unlikely, you are pretty much guarented to live :D

dude whipsnakes aren't harmless.... they aren't deadly, but they can harm you. trust me, where I live I get alot of wildlife. btw, a whipsnake is deadly to a infant or small child.

They aren't venemous dude. I guess any snake that bites could leave a pretty descent gash on a todler. Hope they aren't venemous cos if they are i'm lucky I wasn't bit LOL
