I have been using my ro system without the membrane for my auto drip system on my ray tank. I'm setting up a saltwater tank and want to remove the ro system to use for the saltwater tank. I want to buy a new water filter but am unsure of what to get. I want to get one of the following http://www.h2osplashwaterfilters.com/unwafi.html I'm not sure if one, two, or three filters are needed.

That one in the link looked pretty good. A single carbon filter isn't enough in my area anymore. Run some water through a single cartridge and then test it for chlorine. If any is present, then get the double carbon set up.

I was planning on running two carbon's from the start, I just wasn't sure if that was enough and if I'd have to do three cartridges.

If you don't have a chlorine test kit, they will be hard to find at this time of the year in your area. EBay always has someone with them for cheap. It is wise to have one on hand just to do spot checks in case a carbon cartridge is full.

If you can smell the chlorine when you turn the water on in the morning, or when you are in the shower, then go for the extra filter. The third one can't hurt.

That really doesn't answer my question. Will 2 be enough. My parents have a pool so I can get strips for chlorine no problem.

Nobody can answer that question without knowing how much chlorine and/or chloramines are in your tap water.

You already have the RO system. Take out the carbon cartridge(s) and install one new one. Then take a chlorine reading. If there is still chlorine in it, then add another cartridge and retest it. That's the only way you are going to know how many cartridges you will really need.

Good idea! I'll stop at my parents and grab some strips.

I am not sure bout how the water is there in AZ but if I did that here my fish would die..... 90% of the time the drinking water here smells like straight swimming pool water

What here in chicago isn't bad, but I wouldn't trust it without a filter. Doesn't seem very smart to me. I def wouldn't try it with the fish I have... Way too expensive to try.
