Your only using the two filters?

Yes sir. That setup filters all the water coming into my central system.

What here in chicago isn't bad, but I wouldn't trust it without a filter. Doesn't seem very smart to me. I def wouldn't try it with the fish I have... Way too expensive to try.

LOL I understand believe me. I wouldn't risk my fish with unfiltered water unless I was sure. It's funny though from my point of view (very cheep engineer). No one ever runs an experiment to see if their tap water is bad their fish. This is either very good advertisement from the filter companies/de-chlorinator additives folks or just plain complacency. I can understand if a person had some goldfish and did a 10% tap water change and all the fish died! From my point of view a trickle system is the best set up to use with out pre-filtering because it's the least amount of water going into your tank for the longest period of time. Then 1% water change is better than a 10% and a 10% is better than a 100% and so on as far as hammering your fish with chlorine. Just my opinion, I'm not saying it will be good for everyone but it works for me.

The unit Pharaoh suggested has 2 carbon blocks and no sediment pre-filter. That unit only has a sediment filter and one carbon filter, that's why it's cheaper. I'd run 1 sediment and 2 carbon canisters but the absolute need for a sediment filter without an RO membrane is arguable.
