Nice setup man.. With that style of overflow could you only flow say 1-5GPH threw it or would you lose your siphon?
Those always scare me I would always worry I would lose the siphon and over fill the tank but I know a lot of ppl have great success with them

Thanks! Put alot of work into it. You actually can! Just need smaller Pvc, depending on the tank and pump.

What are planning to use? (Pictures if possible)

I havent had that kind of issue. The only reason you will loose siphone, is if air gets into the first loop of of the overflow. Thats why you mess arouns with things, to make it fool proof , I had to do that lol.

thanks for the detailed pics wheatgerm! cant thank all of you enough for helpin me out, def. feel alot better about my whole situation. WiredDragon93 all those pipes make my brain melt lol...i've done similiar setups with drilled tanks but that is some true enguniuity! It absolutly kills me to cut back on a couple of my smalls as they always come in handy for growouts and what not, but i think im at the point where i just need to go through and make as many "full proof" setups as i can with the largest tanks i have running. My stocks are all very low so i should be able to combine a couple tanks after they have better water quality. I will add i am far more impressed by u guys with one tank that is "full proof" and somewhat self sustaining then having 26 tanks that are all borderline or on the fritz. I'm going to order some glass bits and start drilling the tanks that will give me issues and also some of my smalls to turn into more sumps. I'll still need the float and coupler for my 650 as its a diy with pondliner and id rather not trust a bulkhead through the liner or put a hole in it. Funny i know my way in and out of acrylic tanks but never aquired any skills with glass yet...so theres always a time to start. I have a few leakers i can practice on.

Correct me if I'm wring Wednesday but I believe he is wanting to set up a drip system and was wondering if he could make one of those PVC "siphon" overflows so basically dripping 1-5 GPH into the tank then having the PVC overflow drain slowly to his drain

Yeah thats what i was thinking to get away from drilling the glass tanks, but honestly i may just go ahead and learn to drill them as i dont really trust pvc overflows or a "market" sold h.o.b. overflow box either (i have one standard hob overflow box on a salt tank upstairs so thats enough lol). I have enough headaches dealing with equipment failure (pumps/filters) with everything running already so the more matience or problems i can elliminate for the future the better. I swear something breaks atleast once a week anymore. Its a nightmare when the power goes out with 30-40 pumps trying to fire back on at the same time. They never all quite make it and i have to jumpstart some by spinning the props and what not...

youll really like having the tanks on a drip system man. i dont have near as many tanks as you but all mine are sumped with drip systems.. tank maintence day is on sunday and i just swap and wash 5 filter socks lol.
glass drilling is pretty simple as well, just let the bit do the work and keep a steady flow of water on it and youll be good

Man ur lucky wheatgerm! I wish i would have thought things through more before i brought so many tanks in my house. Trying to get where u are now, my daily matinence is a nightmare atm. Live and learn...i seem to always learn the hard way lol...
