I have searched alot of threads and websites around and i'm convinced i'd like to to an automatic WC system. However i'm sure there are some chloramines in my tap water. So here is my question...

How do i remove chloramines without any help on my part, ie: Adding conditioner manually? If i buy a standard water filter from a hardware store or somewhere similar, will this remove chloramines? Should it have acarbon filter in it? I'm not bothered about the chlorine since it will just gas off by drip method

Any feedback is appreciated.

Mike

For chloramines

List based from most preferred to least

1. Add a carbon filter
2. Dosing system
3. Add conditioner manually

Carbon filters remove chloramines? I have conditioner but i dont want to be around all the time manually adding conditioner. So if i bought a water filter system which is attached to the tap, and has carbon in it, this will remove chloramines?

Normal carbon, granular or GAC filters will remove chlorine. They do remove chloramines too, but not effectively. Chloramines removal requires a special type of granular carbon called Catalytic Carbon. It is also best that if you have chloramines to use two 10" standard sized catalytic carbon filters in series so you get 20" of contact time for removal.

How can i add conditioner to the Auto WC system automatically? It seems like i cannot do the carbon method cos i live in Dubai.... If i ordered that kind of filter, it would be a hassle to get the replacements regularly as we dont have that kind of thing over here

wow, great link. Looks like an awesome setup. Unfortunately there's no way i can get all those parts. Most online sellers dont deliver to this country.

Guess i'm destined to use buckets forever! 40% WC on a 140g tank.......

All most all of us that use this type of system use the http://thefilterguys.biz/ chloramine filter. They work great otherwise you need to use a dosing pump like the chemilizer
