Nice, very nice. As for gravel cleaning, maybe some kind of a plate that it sits. Then make the plate aggitate some and then some kind of a force of either air or water jets on the bottom to push the debri from one side of the tank to the other. Sort of like the way a river pushes debri and sediment from the river top to the river bottom, just have it drain out a screened tube into a drain. Now that would be cool to incorporate that. I know, my imagination is out there. But that would be cool as heck to see.

Sweet. Though i woulda simplified it a little bit with regards to decholorination. Just install one of the them drinking water filters (it can have three chambers: activated carbon, 0.3 and 0.5 micro filter). If only we had someone like you around - i woulda paid to have something like this done to my tanks.

thanks, it's been running now for 3 months. I did surpvise it everytime for a while, but now I've kind of forgotten about it and let it do its thing. My bioload has increased so I'm about to change the settings to do two changes a week. The timing between the various devices is the tricky part so I always watch it for a while after I make any changes, but once everything is sync'd up it runs fine.
Now with all the negative and jealous posts aside... It seems like there is not many people who seem to truely appreciate this project for some reason..

when I upgrade again I plan on doing an automated water changer. your system is great though its out of my price range. I have thought about using irrigation timers and valves and basically an overflow to a drain. the effort and time you put into this is great. now to make it work for me is gonna take some time I will keep an eye on this thread.

It can be done for $150, maybe cheaper. I redesigned it 3-4 times before I built it. One of the ways I was planning was irrigation timers and valves. Up until I found out about the AquaController that was the way I was planning. THe Aqua Controllers PH, Temp and other features won the day (and raised the price)There are dozens of ways to do this, just decide what your requirements are and design from there.greengiant;2207104; said:
