Automatic water siphoning kit

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Absolutely as stated above. The root of the problem is thinking that the worst pollutants in a tank are the poop and debris one can see. The reality is that although those do contribute negatively to water quality, the most concerning products are those one can not see, because they are dissolved in the water. Removing those has to be via water changes.

Someone please educate me. How is that product leaving a chemical behind? any recommendations on how to get uneaten food out of the bottom of a tank sitting on the floor?

Have a small piece of plastic hose attached to a piece of pvc, about half inch diameter. Use it to siphon out excess food. Then, replenish the water siphoned with NEW water of similar parameters.
the machine you are trying to use filters out the food and solids, but lreaves the waste that is dissolved in the water, thus accomplishing very little.

I have this and use it after vacing the gravel and doing a water change to get and missed bottom mess. I haven't used it to much as I've found leaving some mulm on tank bottom helps breeding projects.

I dont care about that I do water changes twice a week to get out everything else. I am trying to get rid of excess food that will decompose at the bottom of my tank . Tank is bare bottom so very easy to see what not being sucked into the overflow via surface skimming.

So just for confirmation this device doesnt leach chemicals into the tank? That was my only concern that and if there was a better version. I am basically just trying to replace my siphon as you have to have gravity to work a siphon and this device creates its own suction.

If you absolutely must purchase this silly feces-mincing device, remove the bag and attach a siphon line to it, then use the goofy little motor to pick up the crap on the bottom and pump it out of the tank rather than just dumping it into a net and forcing a current through it to break it down in your tank water.

Personally, I'd stick with siphons and turkey basters for spot cleaning.

i think the hose is for pumping water out, looks pretty handy to use it just to spot clean solids and either return water or remove it, if you have the room overhead to maneuver around might be a good idea. i would also look into powerheads to blow the solids around and into the filters. what size tanks and what filters?
