As long as there is a band on export, places like Taiwan or Singapore will find ways to captive bred them for $$$$. I truely believe the majority of the cichla on the market are captive bred and hybrid. Nothing wrong with that. It's like owning a beautiful poi dog (mix bred).
When the bahias (F1) first hit the market eighteen months ago the price for them was $$$$$. Many predicted that the price will drop once the market was flooded and they were right. They're everywhere. I feel the same with brokos. So these are not flavor of the month but overstocked flavors. One thing for sure is WC will never go out of style and exotic flavors like azul, xingu, .....will be desired by many including me.
