ok when i bought my 75 gallon tank it had a tinfoil barb in it. the tinfoil barb is almost as big as my oscar. is this normal? he is at most 9". will he grow anymore?

it will be difficult to find a tinfoil barb big enough to hang out with the big tinfoil and also not get eaten by my oscar.
They are considered a schooling type fish, but are completely fine by themselves. I don't really see it a problem being with your Oscar that size, and it should keep a steady growth rate with him as well. I think if they are the only 2 fish in the tank, it's a bare minimum, but should be fine..
Also, around here I see big t barbs in almost every big tank at every lfs. They grow fast, and if your willing to upgrade them and the oscar, should be quick enough to get away from it.

ok. they are not by themselves. there's a large pacu, a larger pacu, and two blood parrots. (don't hassle me about the second pacu, it came with the 75 gallon tank and they wanted all of it to go with it)
pacus grow too big for a 75. The tinfoil will be fine with the oscar. The tinfoil will get too around 14 inches in that tank. They are very fast and hardy. You could keep smaller tin foills with that big guy and they will be fine.
