These are sand sifters, and eat anythinng from pellets, and flake, and to small pieces of shrimp, to grazing algae of sunken logs on the tank.
It doesn't clng, like some others do.
It is more of a substrate hugger, and eatheater/sand sifter.
They sometimes graze algae on sunken logs but not off the glass.

i had two (Caribbean version) river-caught a couple of years ago, grew from <1" to comfortably over 6.
Very good sand-sifters, maybe too good as the sand duned-up into odd places. Seemed to eat anything small. I found it hard to keep weight on them with more active fish, though they weren't lazy at all
