Awesome catfish thread!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm just gonna throw these out there because this species was my first love in fish and still holds a spot that is near and dear to my heart. They also make wonderful wet pets!

Blue cats rule bro! I might get one for my pond in the spring but I'm questioning it. In your experience how big do they average out at?

Blue cats rock! The only thing that swims that competes with them in my eyes are African tiger fish, and even then its close. :D

I've yet to keep one long term. The first one I had for a summer and I lost it during a power outage that winter. The second kept attacking my GATF and arowana so it went into the pond. Link: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/f...the-Blue-Catfish&highlight=ictalurus+furcatus

I'm currently looking for another which will be my primary fish that I will hopefully have long term.

The bullheads have gotten real pretty since the start of the year. Biggest one is ~7 inches, the other two are 4 or 5 inches. Getting ready to move these guys across the country, hope they make the trip alright :) It's so hard to catch them out with the lights on.

Beautiful! I've never seen FL Browns with that good of coloration. And don't worry about them surviving, my pap took some home as food from Michigan a while back, they were in a wet towel for 6 hours in a car and were alive when he got home. If you have them in a bucket and aerate they'll probably survive for days.

Yea, I'm thankful that our natives are such diehards, lol :)

If I can get these guys into a 300gal pond after the move it'll be a mini-dream come true. Just gotta protect them from the raccoon after that.

Those are some fine looking little bullheads! I've caught some that nice before, though not many. :)

Well, fate conspired, and it looks like I'm gonna have to leave my bullheads behind. A little unplanned trip to the hospital pretty much took up all the funds I was going to use to ship them and get a new setup on arrival. Took a short video of them in their beleaguered, half broken-down aquarium to remember them by :)

Would love to keep them again some day.
