Coming home and finding that beautiful beast deceased would almost be enough to cause me to get out of fishkeeping.

Not at all sure what happened. I had him a little over two years. He hadn't been hiding for the last several months and was laying in his usual spot in front of a 1600 GPH circ pump in the morning. That evening when I went to feed, he was upside down. He had those marks around all of his fins and when I went to remove him some skin came loose. That tells me he had been dead awhile. He may have been dead in the morning, but a catfish that isn't moving is hardly alarming. I think the "burnt" looking areas were just skin pulling away. The flesh looked nice and clean, not like wounds. Anyway, Wes got me a new baby a week later. I am already hand feeding him. Hopefully I can get him coming to the surface to hand feed in a little while. That gives me 4 finger removing fish now that hand feed. Fahaka, Mbu, Leichardti and Tig.

LOL @finger removing fish!

Nice Wels, Scott, but why are you holding it like that? Did your cat die too? No other reason to hold a fish like that.

Poor guy got kicked out of both his caves by cats to big to fight back against. He's about 5.25-5.50" now.

The magnificent bastard is now about 16 inches by 5 inches. Eats non stop. I only feed him twice a week now.
