If the female is in good condition, and not "running scared", she can show good color pretty much all the time. It certainly can vary though. These females were at their best.

They would do well in a 150G+ (5'x2'x2') with a mix of other fairly non-aggressive CAs, such as Astatheros or Paraneetroplus/Vieja/Paratheraps.
