look up naja grass, it grows almost exponentially, i put about a softball sized clump into my 180 and had about 8 cubic feet a few months later.

8 cubic feet! :screwy: that is such good news. I'm going to start looking around for Naja grass! Thanks for your help. One question- does it need substrate?

Anubias are pretty hardy as well and less demanding than others... not to mention they help lower the nitrates in one's tank.

Anubias = Nitrate slayer. Sweet! :woot:Keep it comin' guys, and this tank will end up fantastic!

Something with a over and under flow, 1/2 the top cordened off for floating water plants, a slump, a side view glass/acrylic, a current section, and a quiet resting section and a bubble section preferbly with sand.

i'll be building a 8ft by 4ft by 3ft FGT with a 4ft x 3ft x 4ft(height) slum with those specs once my year end bonus comes in.

The idea of the water plants area being sectioned off inside the stingray tank seems like a smart concept, but I don't want it to look redundant with the huge 300 gallon plant bin nearby. Maybe I could put a different, exotic and pleasing-to-look-at plant in there! If I section off part of the tank, though, it will be hard to get access to the rays, won't it?

I loved the idea of a quiet resting section; maybe have some larger, smooth river rock to give them a sense of shelter.

Bubbles! :hearts: I think a small area to play in would be awesome. I just don't want so much going on that it stresses them out; anyone have any experience with putting in a bubble area for their rays?

Just glad to see you are planning in advance instead of buying the rays and then deciding what to do with the tank setup.

Nobody wants to be stuck with a tank setup that they had to throw together last-minute; especially not a water system that is 600+ gallons! :D

I know some others have some good ideas rolling around in their head, just begging to be posted here! (Miles, I know in that crazy, ray-loving head of yours there is something brewing...)

My sister had two plants of that and over the summer if covered her whole 600 gallon pond and need to be cut in half twice!!

Water lettuce! Awesome; I might try adding a small amount of many plants to the 300 gallon sump! It would be my own personal Darwinian experiment with water plants- whichever grows fastest in the environment provided gets to keep the space it occupies! Sweet! :headbang2

I'm going to leave the bay windows and side window open for it; how much light would I have to artificially provide?
