Awesome turtle on my driveway. ID?!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
in MARYLAND (where i live) they are REALLY common... and I KNOW it is illegal to keep them as pets but my grandpa built a big 10x10 outdoor turtle pen with a custom giant hide house and cover water fresh veggies etc. i honestly think they last longer in his pen then in the wild... predators cant get em in the pen... the one he has is over 14 years old...

That's an awesome lil turtle, only ones I ever see around here are huge nasty snappers. Wouldn't wanna hit one of those.

It'd be nice if he had a group and could breed and release the offspring.

True story! Its a shame most state wildlife authorities think otherwise lol. Most of us could probably help out low numbered species like this. O.p. did u find out if there legal to keep in ur state?

They aren't too rare here in NC. I had a baby for a while in a pen that my third grade teacher gave to me. She bred and raised them. I let him go in a state wildlife park eventually.
