I was under the impression that piebald was more of a mottled look...never heard of the pattern changing though.

Dave's right...pied's colors can change by the day almost. They fade/morph in and out of being white/normal patterened. I do believe this is a different genetic mutation tho as ive seen this "extreme" division in other species aswell, ill try and dig up some pics.

"chimera" mutations below :) ...pretty positive they stay this way. Great post Oddball, seen the RTC before but never researched the mutation further until today. Lots of sp. come up in the animal world from cats to butterflies with this mutation... amazing!

I think you mean yin and yang, and not the ying yang twins who's music I will go out of my way not to post here.
 
It's crazy how it's such a straight line between the colors. The crawfish looks like it was painted. Very cool looking specimens.
