axolotl habitat

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
not much, letting the dirt mineralize and the plants in the back get established the purple waffle wilted bad at first but hasnt died yet and is upright again. and got a brown algae outbreak, so Im in no rush.

I did lose two of my axies to black diamond sand, I further inspected it and it is unsutable for any creature that may ingest the sand, basically has tiny needles in it that cannot be sifted out.
this sand was recommended as good sand but it most certainly is not. im using good natural sand now and forever.
Im ordering some more axies from theaxolotl.net, Jay has the best ones.

I did add some kind of semiaquatic grass and arrowhead plant along with a reed plant of some sort to the back, and one of the reeds and arrowhead looking plants along with some kind of other thing that will certainly outgrow the tank to the underwater bit.

when I get it cleaned up Ill add more pics.

newly moved in and seems ok with it. I want some more anubis, and my driftwood is still soaking and all that loose java fern will get tied off to it.

I ditched the aquatic grass in back it was taking off but the dieoff was hard to deal with. I threw it an empty tank and may add it back when its done with the dieoff.

Ive also got a bunch of firemoss and starmoss coming, only problem is it is grown on metal grid and it concerns me that my axie could get hurt on it. I need to find a way to make it 100% safe.

Looks sweet! Because of this thread and others, I've decided to get an Axie :)
So you say www.theaxolotl.net is a good place to start? I want a GFP Leucistic. Can't wait!

Cycling a 25 now...

yeah its the best! I might be a bit biased but I met Jay when I was in Kansas and he is a great guy and his axies are super healthy, cant go wrong with him. contact him via email a couple weeks early and he should have anything you need ready for you in time.

happy to hear your starting one too!!! these guys are awesome!!!
