Axolotl...info,experience,suggestions,etc..

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
there is a TON of info on the web and here, just search "axolotl" and it will all but slap you in the face.

tank mates are a general no-no. keep them cool, clean and vary their diet. they're pretty easy to care for.

I've searched the web but I don't trust articles written by one person a few years ago unless I know the source to be good. There's sooo much bad information out there.

I have a small group of 3.4 of them.... Any specific questions you have?
What tipe of substrate to use, should i do a 20g with soe minor plants(swordtails, java moss)sponge filter i got tes ive heard of them noy liking flow in water.I know they eat blood worms and earth crawlers anything else, does herequire specefic lighting,i havent seen nothing upon this but just wondering!?And how do you maintain yours!!!

Plants are good to have. They can and might uproot them. I use alot of floating plants. It gives them a place to attach their eggs to in my case.

The best substrate to use is either none, sand or I use slate. Again I use the slate for a place for them to deposit spermatophores too.

No specific lights are required. I actually keep mine in the basement. It is drak most of the time.

sponge filters work the best IMHO.

Sorry for the late reply. It was a long weekend.
