What do you have as tankmates with your azuls?

How would silver arowanas and motoros fare with them?

Considering them for my 3600 gallon tank as the primary mid water fish with the arowanas mostly up top and rays on bottom.

I know nothing about cichla because I've never had a tank I considered big enough to keep them.

no offence but if you never had any cichla in your life and you went staight to azul then its i dont know how to walk so ill fly a plane.

No offense, but I've kept fish for 35 years and bred at least 50 different types of cichlids. It's not like I'm some noob about keeping fish. I'm intelligent enough to ask questions before keeping new fish. Why would I keep another Cichla when the ones that I like are azuls?

i think the silver will be fine.. i have a silver aro with my cichla and their the best of mates..

hmmm im looking at getting a silver aro to chill with my cichla once i get my new tank but for now chilling with my 4" oscar and 4" jag they get along fine

the only issue you may have is getting enough food to the rays to the point that they are satisfied
i have kept rays with cichla and it can become a hassle at feeding time and then theres the water quality concerns also
but in that volume of water you may find it to be ok
worth a shot i think

:iagree: I had this problem when I had rays in the past. If you have aggressive feeders it's hard to get enough food to the rays. If you can hand feed the rays or use a feeding tube (what I did) it might work out. That's the only concern I'd see in keeping the two together.
