i hope so. he was doing fine this morning then went back out there and he was doing flips
Have not had that happen to one of mine yet knock on wood but this seems to happen from time to time .Really hope he gets better for ya would be a shame to lose him at 14 inches....

I hope this doesn't come too late. you have to use aquarium salt not "reg" salt if you by reg you mean table salt.....

Hope he gets better. Can't this also happen if a fish bumps his head hard?

dont think salt would do you any good if its an internal injury. I've seen pics of needles inserted into the bladder to remove the air. But you have to know what your doing. I personally would just give him time.

if you have a hypo needle, you can try inserting it into the bladder, one time *** only, and quickly remove it. Give it a few days to heel itself up, and see how he is. I'm going to google it now for you.

I saw a kit being sold at my sporting good store (Dick's) in the fishing isle. i'm sure the needle for that was way too big though.

here you go,

If the fish has swim bladder problems, there is a simple way to fix it in many cases. Nobody seems to know why it works, but it does, probably by loosening food impaction. Take a soft, cooked pea (either fresh, canned or frozen and then cooked), crush it and feed it to the fish. This normally solves the problem within a few hours. If this does not work, do not feed the fish for a few days, since fasting should also clear any food impaction. As with any other disease or medical condition, it is important to always ensure the water quality in the tank is good. A partial change of water is a good idea, even if the pea trick has worked. Also check the pH and temperature and make sure the water is not too alkaline or too cold.

If the problem is caused by a parasite or bacterial infestation, it may be necessary to remove the fish to a separate tank and treat it for these conditions. If none of these measures work, the fish may have a disease such as cancer.

The best way to treat swim bladder problems is in most cases to keep the water quality good and the temperature stable, to give good quality food which is pre-soaked, and to occasionally feed live food and to occasionally withhold food for a day or so. An occasional treat of a pea or two also helps prevent swim bladder problems.

In this case bro, i'm thinking you would have to force feed it, put it in the back of his throat, take a q-tip or something not too sharp, and gently push it at least another inch back into his throat. He may spit it up, but watch him for at least 10 minutes, if he doesnt then he took it down. Good luck.

I have had this happen with many of my Azuls over the years and not one has ever recovered. I think from hitting something and causes damage. Once they start spinning and cant lay straight it's more or less over. Good luck hope it pulls thru for you.
