Azul's Value

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
We only make up a small percentage of Cichla keeper's in the Cichlid hobby as a whole. I wouldn't sweat it. Just sit back and enjoy the wave cause it's all got to come to an end someday. And then you to will be able to say I own one of those rare sp. SOMEDAY!

Personally im loving the trend. I got into keeping these fish because I enjoy keeping elegant predator fish, and Cichla are pretty much the cream of the crop when it comes to fresh water predators. Im one of those that keeps the fish for the simple reason of being close to an apex predator on a daily basis. Its the same reason I keep pitbulls. There is no grey area between business and pleasure. The line is well defined. If you were in the Cichla game for a profit, looks like your cash cow may be headed out to pasture. If youre in it for the honor of being close to some of the best mother nature has to offer, its a great time to be a keeper.

I think the Bigger ones will still fetch decent money. Maybe $500.00 for the Huge ones? jmo, And i'm like you i payed the High price for my bigger one. But i'm glad there coming down so more people can have them. There nice fish to keep!

My two cents:

Look at all the baby Tigrinus being sold recently, and cheap too! But, since they are hard to raise many will die and those with the large ones 15"+ will still be expensive because a lot of these "monster fish keepers" need larger tigs to coexist with their other large fishes in the tank.

wit all these juvi azuls ._. i wonder wat would happen to the value of the big ones ... i just bought a 16" wit big bux and worried that it'll become no bux very soon..... is that gonna happen? or r not all of these juvi will make it so the value will still stay stable? .__.

:( $200 to $250 + Fingers crossed.

x2 . Most other predatory fish pale in comparison to cichla as far as that blend of grace and brute power. Nothing quite like it.

...for the sake of topic, I sold one of my small azuls at 6" for $350. The market, at least on the east coast, is stable. Big guys still fetch $1000+
