Which Rocky? Personally I like #4 the best. Whenever your done perhaps you can explain what makes you think its a Lepomis megalotis?
i watched a rocky marathon on tv all last weekend and recorded the ones i missed. im watching rocky 5, and what are you talking about?? 4 was awful! some awful storyline about a big russian on steroids that a man 2 feet shorter than him knocked him out? get real :D. but in all seriousness, rocky 1 or 2 where the best, probably 1

anywho...i cant count the spines in the dorsal fin or anal fin because i have poor eyesight, but it appears(correct me if im wrong) that it has the barely noticible 10-11 vertical stripes along the length of its body characteristic to Lepomis megalotis, and its ear has a light border. and as always, correct me if im wrong

For some reason I've always liked the Rocky 4 story. I always get a kick out of the training montage where Rocky is using the wilderness as his gym and the Russian is using technology and drugs and they inevitable fail him. Truthfully though it has been a long time since I've seen any of them.
The fish didn't seem willing to erect it's fins when I took the picture so getting a spine count will be difficult. Because of that I will go ahead and say this is a Lepomis species. Just so everyone knows I don't intend on telling you the species tonight, I want to give others a chance to look at it and see what they can come up with.

Hmmmm....the facial pattern really looks like a pumpkinseed or longear to me. Actually, the body pattern and margin, with what looks like a spot on the ear flap also makes me think pumpkinseed, but wasn't that the last one you did? Are you trying to throw us off by doing the same one twice?

I'm not trying to throw anyone off but don't be surprised if I post the same species more than once. I'm not confirming that that's what I did here, just letting you all know.

juvie pseed because im pretty sure teir body profile at that age is that plus face patern along with body pattern also highlighted opercle

Ok, I guess everyone who was going to participate has. The fish is a longear sunfish, specifically an adult female Northern longear (Lepomis megalotis peltastes).
