I recently toke in a 4onth old blue nose pit bull. She is very well trained but her previous owner abused her. She is skittish doing somethings and gets scared when I raise my voice even if I'm not yelling at her. I would like my son to have a dog but my family is concerned that she might snap at him one day. Now I've been around dogs all my life .never really had a problem with any. The only dog I've ever been seriously bitten by was my dads black chow that had serious attitude problems when I was like 6 years old. I've had tons of pits though my very first dog was a rescued pit that was breed to fight and feed gun powder as a puppy (I know very sad ) I had him for 7 years till he had to be put down due to his aggressive tendencies. Well my point is should I worry about her snapping on my son or will she be fine now she is getting the proper care and attention she needs.

Tough call... i've never owned a pit bull so i can't say...

But since there is a young child involved, i would say its probably best not to have a dog that could have underlying problems around, especially if it was abused and you don't know if he can be rehabilitated? I mean considering it is a Pit Bull, it could potentially do some serious damage... and yes, i know all dogs can... but just saying...

We got a 2 month old pit and my 4 year old loves her to death. The dog is now around 30 lbs and my daughter rolls on the ground with her, takes her toys and there has never been a problem other than the dog getting too rowdy. She can get a little excie and has play bit my daughter when they are tugging on toys

I have a chihuahua and wouldn't let her around my baby unsupervised, if I was you I really wouldn't want to risk anything happening to my baby as much as I love dogs. If something was to happen to your son it would be entirely your fault

Never leave ANY dog with any baby unattended. Regardless of breed.

Having said that pitbulls are awesome family dogs IF they are trained properly and are excercised. They have a ton of energy which if not expelled can lead to nipping, jumping, and any other bad behavior. If you don't have time to train the puppy I'd say its best to give her up. Raising a pitbull puppy is no joke.

I have a newborn daughter and 2 pitbulls as her guardians from boys :D

Pits were know as family dogs back in the day. Petey from the Little Rascals was a pit.

Hello; There was a story recently about a young woman killed by what I believe was a rescued dog or dogs. I believe the story was in a web site and here is the web address. The site is an interesting read.

Pit Bulls are amazing dogs. Great with kids and I have been around bullies all my life. I also have a pit bull that was abused before we owned him and we got him around 4 months old. He was really skittish and it had taken him awhile to get used to me. But he has always been gentle and sweet with my kids. My sons were babies when we got him and he has never shown any sign of aggression whatsoever.
But like already said, with ANY dog, don't leave the kid unsupervised around the dog.
